About Us

fitness-studio-sydney.jpg

Hi there! I’m Angela, founder of Fitness Philosophy Australia and your ultimate hype girl here to challenge you to show up, help you build strength and turn good intentions into habits that actually stick.I’ve always been a curious soul with a big personality. The kind of person who brings people together. That’s exactly what I’ve set out to do with the Fitness Philosophy Australia movement - create a space where fitness feels fun, empowering, meaningful and unique. My journey didn’t start in a gym. I’ve been a musician from a young age and trained in Sound Engineering dreaming of becoming a singer-songwriter. But my career pivoted during Covid. I enrolled at Macquarie Uni where I majored in Philosophy and minored in Criminology (yep, a bit of a thinker). I joined the soccer team and unfortunately injured my lower back, so I started Pilates as a gentle way to heal. That’s when everything shifted.I fell in love with movement, Pilates, and how it made me feel stronger from the inside out. I followed the passion, earned my Cert III & IV in Fitness, and my Pilates qualification, and that’s when fitness turned into a whole philosophy. Now, I blend music, movement and mindset to create sessions that feel more like an experience than just another workout. Whether you’re returning from injury, trying to rebuild confidence, or just trying to show up for yourself, this space is for you. Because when one person starts to feel good that energy spreads. After all, strong people build strong communities, and that’s what FPA is all about.

Our Philosophy

At Fitness Philosophy Australia, we believe fitness goes beyond movement. Movement is a mindset. No matter your starting point, we meet you where you're at, then nudge you forward with intention, strength and purpose.Own It.We believe growth starts with ownership. Your beliefs, goals and sense of meaning shape your identity - but they’re not fixed. You build them one habit and one decision at a time. Fitness is the catalyst that empowers you to live with intention, nurture deep relationships, and create strong community bonds. Why Philosophy?‘Philo’ means love. ‘Sophia’ means wisdom. We’re here for both.
Fitness Philosophy Australia is where movement meets meaning. Our classes blend movement with intention, self-reflection and connection with others, all while finding joy in the process. You can move through exercise intensity levels so you’re not just working out, you’re working on something.
Remember: Real change isn’t loud or flashy. It’s built in small, repeated and refined moments, rooted in what matters to you."We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit." - Aristotle

Pilates in Sydney: Why It’s the Best Workout This Spring

| 2 min read

Either you’re already hooked, or your next big love is waiting to be found. Pilates is one of the most trending workouts in 2025. But what’s the hype all about, Sydney? Many guys I speak to always ask me “isn’t Pilates just stretching?”… Boys, hold my mat and let me explain.

The Science of Pilates
Pilates is a slow, controlled, science-backed method of movement which works your body from the inside out. Unlike a fast-paced gym session that targets big, global muscles (like your quads or pecs), Pilates zooms in on the deep stabilising muscles that hold everything together.
Let’s dive a little deeper.Pilates works by engaging our body’s deep stabilising muscles, starting with the core.
The transversus abdominis, often referred to as a natural ‘corset’, wraps around the torso to stabilise our spine and pelvis. The pelvic floor, a sling of muscles found between our public bone and tailbone, supports our organs and helps maintain core control. Another key set of muscles are our multifidus muscles, which run along the spine to protect and control vertebral movement… We also can’t forget the strong emphasis placed on the breath. Pilates uses a technique called posterolateral breathing that expands the ribcage laterally (out to the sides and back). This coordinated breathing pattern ensures that the diaphragm, pelvic floor and deep abdominals all work together) — activating the core with every movement, and enhancing stability, posture and functional strength!
…Can you tell how much I love Pilates? The focus on stability, breath and precision makes Pilates a powerful training tool for posture, strength and injury prevention. It does contrast strongly with a fast gym work out. At the gym you may tend to load up more and move quicker (which is great for utilising Type II ‘fast-twitch’ muscles fibres). In Pilates, we slow down to recruit stabilisers, train muscular endurance (Type I fibres), and sharpen our mind-muscle connection. Both training styles have their place. Pilates gives you the foundation that makes your gym lifts stronger, safer and more effective.

Top 6 Benefits of Pilates in Spring/Summer
Here are my top six science-backed reasons to bring Pilates into your training routine this season:
1. Improved core strength — Pilates stabilises your spine, pelvis and improves posture in everyday movement
2. Toned & lean muscle – eccentric (lengthening) contractions create strength and elasticity without heavy loading
3. Better mobility & range of motion – spinal articulation and joint-friendly movements improve flexibility while strengthening
4. Enhanced balance and stability – trains small stabilisers that reduce injury risk and improve coordination
5. Compliments your gym workouts – full range, controlled movements support global strength training and athletic performance
6. Breath control for performance – learning how to breath laterally improves oxygen efficiency in the body. This carries over to lifting at the gym, running and moving and lifting things in your everyday life

7. Health, Safety & Conduct
7.1 Client Acknowledgment and Pre-Exercise Requirements
All clients are required to complete and submit the ‘Liability Release Waiver & Participation Agreement’ and the relevant APSS Pre-Exercise Screening Form prior to engaging in any services offered by Fitness Philosophy Australia. For adult participants, this is the Adult Pre-Exercise Screening System (APSS), and for clients under 18 years of age, the Youth Pre-Exercise Screening Tool (YPAP/APSS Young Person Form) must be completed by both the minor and their parent or legal guardian.
The APSS and YPAP forms are industry-standard tools jointly developed by Exercise & Sport Science Australia, AUSactive (formerly Fitness Australia), Sports Medicine Australia, and Exercise is Medicine Australia. These forms are used under their published terms and remain their intellectual property. Fitness Philosophy Australia requires completion of the relevant form as a condition of participation for safety and compliance purposes.
Completion of these documents forms a binding condition of participation and constitutes:
a) acknowledgment and acceptance of the inherent risks associated with exercise and physical activity;
b) agreement to assume personal responsibility for participation and any associated outcomes; and
c) full disclosure of all relevant medical conditions, injuries, surgeries, medications, pregnancy status, or other health concerns that may impact safe participation.
7.1.1 Clients (or their parent/guardian in the case of minors) understand and agree that failure to complete these requirements truthfully and accurately may result in denial of participation and may void any claims arising from nondisclosure.
7.2 By participating in any Fitness Philosophy Australia service, clients acknowledge that these are considered ‘recreational activities’ as defined under the Civil Liability Act 2002 (NSW). Clients accept the inherent risks associated with physical activity, and release Fitness Philosophy Australia and its personnel from liability to the extent permitted by law. By attending a class, you declare you are medically fit and capable of participating in physical activity.
7.3 Before each session, you agree to inform us of any new or existing injuries, health conditions, or physical limitations (including pregnancy) that may affect your ability to safely participate. This ensures we can tailor the session appropriately to protect your health and wellbeing.
7.4 If a new medical condition, injury, or health concern arises that may affect your ability to safely participate in sessions, you must inform Fitness Philosophy Australia in writing as soon as possible. A valid medical certificate may be required to confirm clearance to continue or resume participation.
7.5 You agree to follow the instructor’s guidance, use equipment appropriately, and behave respectfully toward others at all times. Any inappropriate, dangerous, or disruptive behaviour may result in suspension or termination of access to classes.
8. Public Health Policy
8.1 Clients must not attend any session if they are unwell or displaying symptoms of a contagious illness (including but not limited to cold, flu, or COVID-19).
8.2 Fitness Philosophy Australia reserves the right to refuse participation if a client is deemed unfit to train or poses a health risk to others.
8.3 Classes may be rescheduled, transitioned online or cancelled in response to public health orders or other health-related circumstances beyond our control.
9. Minimum Age Policy
9.1 Group classes are recommended for participants aged 16 and over.
9.2 Participants aged 14–15 may be permitted at the instructor’s discretion, provided a signed parental or guardian consent form is submitted.
9.3 Children under 14 years are strictly prohibited from attending group sessions, due to safety, supervision, and developmental considerations. Exceptions may be made for 1:1 sessions with prior discussion and parental consent.
9.4 Where a participant is under 18 years of age, the parent or legal guardian must:
a) agree to these Terms & Conditions,
b) sign the Liability Release Waiver & Participation Agreement on behalf of the minor, and
c) acknowledge and accept any photography/media terms set out in the Waiver, unless an opt-out is provided in writing.
d) accept full legal responsibility for the minor’s participation, including responsibility for disclosure of any relevant medical conditions and ensuring the minor complies with conduct and safety guidelines, including completion of the Youth Pre-Exercise Screening Tool (YPAP/APSS Young Person Form) prior to participation.

Website: www.fitnessphilosophy.com.au
1. Overview
At Fitness Philosophy Australia, we respect your time and commitment — and we’re dedicated to making our sessions accessible and fair for everyone. This Cancellation Policy explains the conditions for cancelling or missing booked sessions, so we can manage limited class spaces effectively and minimise disruption for all clients.
To ensure fairness and consistency for all clients, this policy applies without exception.
We operate small group sessions with limited capacity, so missed or late cancellations often cannot be reallocated — resulting in lost opportunities for others.
By booking a session with us, you agree to the terms outlined below.
2. Booking Cancellations
Minimum Notice Period: All cancellations must be made at least 8 hours before the scheduled session start time. If you are booking a 1:1 Personal Training or Private Pilates session, cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance.
How to Cancel: Cancellations must be submitted via Gymcatch, accessible through our website under the ‘Bookings’ section or directly at www.gymcatch.com.Late Cancellations or No-Shows: Cancellations made within 8 hours of the scheduled session, or failure to attend a booked session without cancellation, will result in forfeiture of that session. No refunds, credits, or transfers will apply unless required under Australian Consumer Law.3. Membership Cancellations
Memberships are billed on a recurring fortnightly basis (14 days) and include a fixed number of sessions per cycle, depending on your membership type.
• You may cancel your membership at any time by providing a minimum of 14 days written notice via email to [email protected]. Your membership will remain active until the end of the current billing period following notice.
No partial refunds will be issued for unused sessions or remaining time within a billing cycle, unless otherwise required by Australian Consumer Law.
• All sessions included in your membership must be used within the relevant 14-day cycle. Unused sessions do not roll over into future periods and will be forfeited at the end of each billing cycle.
• If auto-renewal is enabled through Gymcatch, your membership will automatically renew every 14 days at the current rate unless cancelled in accordance with this policy.
• You are responsible for managing your membership, including checking expiry dates and usage via your Gymcatch account under Profile › Purchases › Packages.
• If you become injured, unwell, or experience extended personal hardship, you may contact us in writing to discuss temporary pause options. Any pause, freeze, or extension is granted solely at the discretion of Fitness Philosophy Australia and must be agreed to in advance.
4. Rescheduling
If you are unable to attend a session, you may cancel within the required timeframe and rebook another session (subject to availability and your class pass/membership expiry period). Missed sessions cannot be rescheduled retroactively.
5. Sessions Cancelled by Us
In rare cases, a session may be cancelled by Fitness Philosophy Australia due to:
• Unsafe weather conditions (for outdoor sessions),
• Instructor unavailability,
• Operational or public health reasons.
If we cancel a session, you will be notified via email or SMS, and:
• The session will be rescheduled where possible, or
• A class credit will be re-applied to your pass, with the expiry period adjusted accordingly.
You will not lose a paid session if the cancellation is initiated by us.
6. Class Location Changes
Fitness Philosophy Australia reserves the right to change the location of any class or session due to weather, venue availability, or operational needs. Notice will be provided where possible. A change in location does not qualify as a valid reason for late cancellations, no-shows, or refund requests. By booking a class, you agree to attend at the updated location unless otherwise notified.
7. Public Health & Illness-Related Cancellations
• You must not attend sessions if you are unwell, injured, or displaying symptoms of a contagious illness (e.g. cold, flu, COVID-19).
• We reserve the right to refuse entry if you are deemed unfit to train or may pose a risk to others.
• Please contact us directly in the case of extended illness, injury, or personal circumstances. We may, at our discretion, offer flexibility in line with your class pass terms.
8. No Refunds
All class passes and single sessions are non-refundable and non-transferable, unless otherwise required under the Australian Consumer Law. Sessions forfeited due to late cancellations or no-shows will not be credited back.
